We have been delivering highest quality decorative plants for over 30 years. We are distinguished by wide assortment and numerous novelties.
We produce approximately 1 000 000 plants per year. Over 1.5 tho. species and varieties are always in stock. We also offer varieties bred by us. Each season we offer over 100 novelties – proven plants worth-recommending to our clients.
Szmit Nursery was established in 1982 in Pęchcin nearby Ciechanów. Currently the ground surface of our farm is 53 hectares, a significant part out of which is allotted for container gardening. We cooperate with many companies both the domestic and foreign ones. We have years of experience in export of plants to over 20 countries.

We continue to extend the assortment with drought tolerant plants and plants that cope better in our climate – meaning plants well adapted to climate changes (dry and hot summers and uneven precipitation within the year time)...

Co roku w sierpniu nakładem Szkółki Szmit ukazuje się katalog na sezon jesień/wiosna. Katalog zawiera ofertę hurtową na wszystkie produkowane przez naszą Szkółkę rośliny oraz przedstawia warunki sprzedaży w języku polskim, angielskim i rosyjskim.
Wszystkie rośliny pogrupowane są w pięciu działach (liściaste, iglaste, pnącza, trawy i byliny oraz rośliny owocowe) i ułożone alfabetycznie według nazwy łacińskiej. Przy każdej roślinie podana jest też nazwa polska oraz krótki opis, wraz z dostępnymi wielkościami (wysokość rośliny bądź rozmiar doniczki). Koneserzy znajdą w katalogu wiele nowości wprowadzonych przez nas na rynek i sprawdzonych w naszym klimacie.
Publikacja jest ilustrowana fotografiami polecanych roślin, uzupełnionymi o ciekawe zdjęcia z naszego ogrodu kolekcyjnego.

2016/2017
W tym roku na okładce prezentujemy bazie wierzby smukłoszyjkowej 'Mt Aso' (Salix gracilistyla 'Mt Aso'). Największą ozdobą odmiany są puszyste, czerwonoróżowe kwiatostany, które pojawiają się w lutym. Oryginalny, nowy kolor bazi wnosi nową jakość do asortymentu roślin ozdobnych zimą. Nasza szkółka jako pierwsza w Polsce wprowadziła tę japońską odmianę na nasz rynek.
2015/2016
Tegoroczna okładka przedstawia ciekawą nowość roślinną – leszczynę Corylus avellana PURPLE UMBRELLA 'JM 251' PBR. Jest to pierwsza, czerwonolistna, płacząca odmiana tego gatunku. Nasza Szkółka zakupiła prawa do tej odmiany i zgłosiła ją do ochrony w Unii Europejskiej.
2014/2015
Na okładce umieściliśmy zdjęcie pąków kwiatowych rutewki Thalictrum aquilegifolium 'Purpureum'.
2013/2014
Okładka przedstawia przebarwiony na czerwono liść jarzębu Sorbus AUTUMN SPIRE 'Flanrock' PBR.
2012/2013 (Jubileusz 30-lecia Szkółki Szmit)
W tym roku, z okazji jubileuszu założenia naszej Szkółki, na okładce znalazł się roślinny napis „30 lat Szkółki Szmit”.

“Broadleaf trees and shrubs”
We recommend our new book „Drzewa i krzewy liściaste” [“Broadleaf trees and shrubs”] by Bronisław Szmit, Bronisław Jan Szmit and Maciej Mynett. The book is a compendium of knowledge about broadleaf decorative plants that can be grown in our country. It contains specifications of very popular species and varieties as well as of those, cultivation of which is a bit harder, and which are intended for more experienced gardens enthusiasts. It also includes presentation of novelties. The book presents many trees and shrubs, description of which cannot be found in other publications.
Polish historical varieties
We are pleased to present you Polish historical varieties of ornamental trees. They have common history and origin: all of them have been selected, described and introduced to cultivation in Polish nurseries. Many of them have been considered lost for years. Thanks to years of efforts of people with passion some of these interesting and precious plants were found. It is worth to remember about this valuable fragment of the Polish horticultural heritage.

Recommended plants
Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem' PBR
Uniquely decorative and hardy shrub with pink orange leaves that become yellowish over time. Can be used for large planting in towns and along roads. According to the research it is the best plant to be used in fitoremediation.
Sorbus Autumn Spire 'Flanrock' PBR
Small tree with narrow columnar habit and gold yellow fruits. In autumn leaves change their colour to wine red. Due to its habit, the variety is recommended to small gardens and to be planted along roads, pathways and driveways.
Sorbus 'Rubinowaja'
One of the best Russian fruit bearing varieties of Sorbus. Its claret red fruits are tasty, full of vitamins and can be used for jams and infusions.
Spiraea betulifolia 'Tor Gold' PBR
Low-growing dense shrub with gold yellow leaves that change color to orange in autumn. Extremely frost hardy variety recommended as a ground cover plant.
Phlox paniculata 'Olienka'
One of the best varieties of phlox bred in Russia. Light pink flowers with brighter "eye" and darker violet pink centre. The variety grows up to 0.8–1 m high.
Quercus 'Monument' PBR
Polish variety of Quercus with wide columnar habit. Very large dark green shining leaves. Variety resistant to mildew. Recommended for representative areas.
Quercus robur 'Posnania'
New Polish variety of Quercus robur introduced to cultivation by our Nursery. Very long, up to 20–25 cm long, fancifully and irregularly indented pendant leaves.
Sambucus nigra BLACK LACE 'Eva' PBR
Beautiful variety with dark purple shining leaves that resemble a lace. Both light pink flowers and fruits can be used for preserves.
Betula nana 'Golden Treasure' PBR
The first gold-leaved variety of the species. Grows up to 0.5 m high and approximately 1 m in diameter. Especially recommended as a ground cover plant for the coldest regions of Europe.
Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow'
Very effective multi-colour perennial. Vibrant orange inflorescences appear on intensely red stems with brown green leaves. Up to 0.7 m high.
Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris 'Silver Lining' PBR
New variety of Hydrangea anomala with grey green, white variegated leaves. Grows slower than the species. Perfectly brightens shadowed corners of a garden. Recommended for walls, pergolas, trees' trunks and as a ground cover plant.
Hydrangea paniculata BOBO 'ILVOBo' PBR
This profusely blooming dense variety of Hydrangea paniculata grows only up to 0.7 m high. White flowers become slightly pink over time. Variety especially recommended as a ground cover plant.
